West Wycombe Park

in CCS17 days ago (edited)

I popped into west Wycombe park before it closes for the year. The national trust own the property and also the village just outside.

West Wycombe Park is one of the most theatrical and Italianate of all English country houses, being home to the Dashwood family home for over 300 years. I also visited the hell fire caves The Hellfire Caves also linked to the Dashwood family, which is a long winding tunnel running a quarter of a mile into the hill. It has numerous passages and chambers leading off it, including a huge Banqueting Hall. It's said to be the largest man-made chalk cavern in the world and home to high profile underground meetings.

They had lots of lovely plums growing in the carpark and I foraged a few to have with my coffee.
