Topsham
The gorgeous walk up to Tvrdava Fortica/ Hvar Spanish Fortress. You can get to the top and take in the breathtaking views for free, but it’s a good steep walk to the top so be prepared :) Its construction began in 1278, when Hvar was under Venetian rule and the fortress was reconstructed in 1551.
During a devastating attack by the Turks in 1571, the local residents found shelter and protection within the castle walls. In 1579 an explosion from a thunderbolt hitting a gunpowder depot left the fortress severely damaged and It was not restored until the early 17th century under the reign of Prince Pietro Semitecolo.
