The Temple of the Holy Spring
The mere mention of a suspended monastery invariably evokes images of the Hanging Temple of Mount Heng in Hunyuan County, Shanxi Province! A globally renowned marvel of ancient Chinese architecture, its fame is virtually universal. Yet, few are aware that less than 100 kilometers eastward, nestled within the bordering Guangling, another suspended temple clings precariously to the cliff face. Though officially named "The Temple of the Holy Spring," it is more affectionately known as the "Lesser Hanging Temple," and arguably surpasses even its celebrated counterpart in terms of both perilousness and altitude.
