Nanjing's Historically Evocative Rose-Laden Walls:
For a hidden gem for photography in Nanjing, Xiamafang undeniably qualifies, as even locals seldom venture here.
Its full name is Xiamafang Relic Park, a landmark structure marking the entrance to the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum. Officials from all regions were required to dismount their horses here and proceed on foot, hence the name "Xiamafang," which translates to "Dismounting Place." Indeed, it could be considered an ancient "parking" lot.
In my estimation, Xiamafang represents the true starting point of the Zhongshan Mausoleum scenic area: Xiamafang Relic Park → Dajin Gate → Sifang City → Sacred Way → Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum → Plum Blossom Hill → Zixia Lake. Along this path, one engages in a dialogue with history, gaining insight into the rich heritage of Nanjing.
