Perhaps I better say, this isn't how our garden looks, YET.

Not my garden either, at least, not yet! :)))

This is actually a view of the Drummond castle gardens in Scotland, that I visited in the not-so-distant past. Oh, Scotland is so beautiful but let's not get into that lyrical detour, as we use to say here ;) So hereby I kindly ask you to forgive my click-bait head picture, of course taken with my top pro-camera and enjoy the rest of the photos, taken with my phone but more, my story, it is an ordinary one though :)

It feels like the summer is past its middle, the fall is comin' and more and more work in the garden is required.

For instance, our two small fig trees gave so many fruits, that we had to prepare jam. Twice!!! On the photos below, you will see a basket, this same basket was full of figs, wow.

Guess what we will be putting on top of the crepes during the winter :)

I couldn't sleep well last night, mainly thanks to our little "friends", the martens, one of them was having fun right under the window of the bedroom so I was fully awake at six. So shortly after having a cup of coffee, I decided it was the best morning to harvest my popcorn maize ;)

Perhaps I shared this before, but we don't have much water in our watering well. The summers in Southern Europe are hotter and hotter and the water is less and less. I measured that the average we extract per days is about 300 litters and that is far from what we need to support the garden in full. Also, I cannot spend my whole day outside, watering... everything.

So the maize I planted was quite limited. Apart from the popcorns I plan to prepare soon, the maize served another purpose - to create shadow for the gherkin plants I planted in May. Up until late July everything was fine, good shadow, gherkin salad every other day. Then the red-level heat came and generally killed the gherkin plants despite the shadow casted by the maize. It was just too much, there was nothing more I could do.

The surface "occupied" by maize is about 7-8 square meters.

Some of the corn were ill, I had to throw away a few and wash my hands as the black stuff was acting like an ink :|

At first I was thinking about braiding them, as now they have to dry for about two weeks but given they are not so many, I think I will just remove the follicles and save myself some time.

I decided to keep the stems, once they are completely dry I may create some rustic decoration.

This looks like a bamboo but bamboo does not grow naturally in Bulgaria. Those stems are quite strong actually. I need a small coffee table in the mornings, so who knows :)))

This was my agricultural gym today :) Actually, a part of it, as there was some watering and onion-harvesting as well.
