Greetings, CCS friends. I've been away from Steemit for almost two weeks, primarily motivated by moving to a new house. During those days, I had limited Wi-Fi access, relying mostly on cell phone data. But I'm back, and today I'm sharing photos of a caterpillar I photographed in the backyard of my new house.

Saludos amigos de CCS. He estado casi dos semanas lejos de Steemit, motivado principalmente a que me mude a una nueva casa, y durante esos días tenía acceso limitado al Wifi, dependiendo mayormente de los datos del celular. Pero ya estoy de vuelta y hoy les comparto fotografías de una oruga, que fotografíe en el patio de la nueva casa.

The Model: Monarch Butterfly Caterpillar

This is the monarch butterfly caterpillar, which I discovered through a Google Lens image search. This is a fairly well-known species of butterfly with bright orange wings and black veins.

Se trata de la oruga de la mariposa monarca, cosa que descubrí gracias a la búsqueda de imágenes de Google Lens. Y que esta es una especie bastante conocida de una mariposa de alas color anaranjado intenso con las nervaduras negras.

I spotted this caterpillar on the underside of an elongated leaf; it was barely over 2 centimeters long. This is about the size of a finger joint. The caterpillar stage is the second stage in a butterfly's transformation process. First as an egg, then as a caterpillar, then a chrysalis, and finally, as an adult butterfly.

Ubiqué a esta oruga en el envés de una hoja alargada, apenas superaba la longitud de 2 centímetros. Esto es como el tamaño de la falange de un dedo. El estado o fase de oruga, es la segunda etapa en el proceso de transformación de la mariposa. Primero como huevo, luego como oruga, después crisálida y finalmente, mariposa adulta.

What caught my attention were its white, black, and yellow rings and the antennae (note: I don't know if that's what they're called) at both ends, which make it difficult to distinguish which side has its head. Can you tell?

Me llamó la atención sus anillos de colores blancos, negros y amarillos y las antenas (nota: no sé si se llaman así) en ambos extremos, lo que la hacen difícil de diferenciar cuál lado está la cabeza. ¿Tu puedes distinguirlo?

Post-editing consisted of reducing shadows in the photos, brightening the colors, and cropping to get better frames. I used Lightroom for this.

La edición posterior consistió en reducir las sombras en las fotos, avivar los colores y recortar para obtener mejores encuadres. Para ello utilicé Lightroom.
