Three Years of Waiting: A Journey with the Post Office.
Hello dear friends,
I hope you all are doing well and spending a beautiful life with your loved ones. I wish you all happiness and peace.
Exactly three years ago, on July 24, 2022, I had the responsibility of handling a special task for my office manager. He had opened a DPS (Deposit Pension Scheme) worth 1 million BDT at the Narayanganj Post Office. The main concept of this scheme is simple—you deposit a fixed amount of money, and after the maturity period, you get your money back along with the predetermined profit. If you wish, you can also withdraw the interest every three months. For a long three years, this money remained deposited in the post office.
Today, the three-year term has finally come to an end. My manager instructed me to visit the post office and submit the necessary documents. I still remember the day I deposited the money with my own hands, and today became another memorable day for me.
Around noon, I left the office. The sky was clear, but the heat of the sun was intense. Although there was no rain, which was a relief, the scorching heat was quite unbearable. Our office is not too far from Narayanganj city, as Shibu Market is very close to the city. However, in places like Dhaka and Narayanganj, traffic jams are an everyday companion.
A journey that usually takes 10 minutes ended up taking almost 45 minutes today. At one point, it felt like the traffic had completely stopped. But I had to stay patient because today’s task was extremely important.
Finally, I reached my destination and breathed a sigh of relief. I expected a huge crowd, but surprisingly, the post office was almost empty. I thought I would have to stand in line for hours, but there was no need for any queue. The entire process was completed very smoothly. After submitting the required documents, the officials informed me that the money would be transferred next Monday to the same bank account from which it was deposited.
Hearing this made both my manager and me happy. The fact that such a large amount of money would be returned without any hassle gave me a sense of relief.
After finishing the work, I stepped out. This time, there was no traffic, so I reached home in just 10 minutes. However, something interesting happened on my way back—I bought 20 lemons for only 20 BDT from a roadside shop! I was truly amazed because I usually buy lemons at 15–20 BDT for just four pieces. Today, I got 20 lemons for 20 BDT.
Now, we wait until next Monday. Hopefully, there will be no complications, and my manager will receive his 1 million BDT along with the interest on time. From this experience, I learned one thing—the Post Office DPS system is still safe and reliable.
After completing this task following a long three-year wait, I feel a sense of peace. I hope that such services will remain smooth and customer-friendly in the future.
Have you ever deposited money in a post office DPS or any other savings scheme? How was your experience? Feel free to share in the comments.
