Night Backwater

in CCS2 days ago

I wanted to capture the views of the night Backwater five years ago, when I was fascinated by the courtyard spaces, but I never got to this place. At that time, the territory of the backwater had not yet been improved.

Now there is a public space called Zatonovsky Bereg (The Backwater shore).

Actually, the word backwater is familiar to me from childhood, since there was also a backwater in my city, where real ships and barges are still standing.

The backwater in Vologda does not look at all like a place for ships to park.

It looks like a lake or a bay.

Previously, there were no high-rise buildings here, all of them were built very recently.

I've been living in Vologda for so long that I can already say, "I remember how it used to be."

And it used to be worse – everything looked like a wasteland, now it's much better here.

The only place that looks like a backwater for ships is not located in the backwater, but on the banks of the Vologda River.

The area has undergone significant transformations over the years, and it's great to hear that it's looking much better now. The contrast between the past and present must be striking, especially with the development of public spaces like Zatonovsky Bereg. The fact that you've lived in Vologda for a long time gives you a unique perspective on the changes that have taken place. It's interesting that you mention the area on the banks of the Vologda River resembling a backwater for ships, despite not being officially designated as one.
