The title caught my attention.
Good advice for a writer would be to read, read, and read. That largely determines the vast torrent of ideas that will emerge from selected readings. Contrary to what one might think, a writer doesn't read to imitate long-term. One loves literature because it's part of the writer's life. And amidst all that organized chaos one reads, one seeks to write something new, to put one's stamp on it.
To the extent that one reads, good readings, many and varied, one adds value to one's intellect. And that process of amassing and structuring ideas and literary forms is what will lead to overcoming, to adding high-value content.
One is always afraid. One must overcome fears. Only by writing can one overcome fears. One writes as an essay. One doesn't think about who might please one, one doesn't think about ridicule. Each work is part of that creative process that we want to improve. And it is a future proof of how we write and what we have achieved.
To write. To leave traces.
