A Day's Journey: From Home Chores to Hidden Wonders in Nature!

in CCC5 days ago

Hello everyone!

what a day yesterday was! I wanted to share a bit about it here, 'cause it was pretty full, especially in the evening.

So, my afternoon started off with the usual stuff – fetched some water and helped mum hang out the washed clothes. You know, just getting those regular things done. After that, I decided to take a nice walk, just chilling and checking out what was happening around.

Hunting for "Iyanapaja" (and Battling the Itch! 😂)

But the main event of my evening? Heading out to the farm! My mission was to cut some of that special vegetable we call "Iyanapaja" here in my locality. You guys probably know it as tree spinach, belonging to the genus Cnidoscolus spp.

We seriously cook some delicious meals with this stuff. But here's the kicker: it's got this bitter taste. And honestly, I don't know how my mum magically makes it taste so nice! Trust me, I've tried cooking it myself, and it's still bitter every single time for me. I guess she's got some secret touch!

And oh my goodness, this plant really takes up space if you don't trim it properly. It grows like a whole bush, and sometimes it can even house other little organisms. But what I hate most, seriously, is the itchy liquid that comes out of it when you cut it. It's so bad! I literally had to wear nylon on my hands for today's cutting. 😂 Still, it was cool just observing it while I was out there.

My Tiny Farm Discoveries!

While I was out there messing with the Cnidoscolus, my eyes were just naturally drawn to other cool things around the farm. As a nature observer, you just can't help but look!

I managed to get some pics of what I saw. Like this one – it's a butterfly or whatever it is, just chilling there. I also spotted some other tiny insects, just doing their thing, flying or crawling around. It's always amazing what you find when you stop and actually look.

Here are some of the pics I took from yesterday:

So yeah, that was my evening. A mix of chores, getting those veggies, and finding some cool little creatures. Hope you guys had a nice day too!

There's so many different type of spinach out there. Love those I've. I'm really curious about this dish your mom made. Does your mom need to wear a glove to prepare this too?

She made soup with it and they were delicious. She doesn't need to wear gloves, she just leaves it for a while or rinse it in water before slicing.
