SLC-S24/W5 | Coffee Cake

A bold step was taken to try out this cake preparation process. From the experience I had so far, battling with how I would improvise an oven, waiting patiently to see if it would really turn out to be a cake, and pondering if I missed a step, multitasking my device by going through the steps and at the same time making a video made me realise what it meant to make a cake. All this may not have occurred to those for whom this is not their first preparation. I am not here to prove that boys can cook but actually to learn how to do this. Thanks for the appreciation.

So far I have learnt so much, especially on the part of the ingredients. I decided to ask of every ingredient the way I found on the contest post, and this led me to the discovery that vanilla is of two types: the powdery form and the liquid form. The liquid form is brown in colour, while the powdery form is milky, a great difference I'd never known.

RECIPE/FINAL PRESENTATION

The recipe, which is the step-by-step preparation of this cake, is all in the video above; nevertheless, I will show you every ingredient and list the steps here as well.

  • The first thing I did was to take a clean and dry bowl, pour in my sugar into my bowl and then my butter in the appropriate proportion and then beat it until they are evenly mixed. (This particular beat process didn't take so long, but I took some time so I wouldn't miss the steps.)

  • After this, I poured in my egg and beat it for a while.

  • To get an aroma and flavour, I poured in my powdery vanilla and beat it until they were evenly mixed.

  • I prepared a separate clean, dry bowl; in that bowl I poured in my flour and the baking powder and stirred it. This didn't take long, so I poured it into the already prepared mixture of (butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla), and I mixed it together.

  • After mixing it so well, pour in the coffee and beat it till the mixture is even(the coffee should be liquidated and also warm a bit to ensure a complete melting, then cooled before adding to the batter).

  • A foiled plate or carton can be folded to pour in the mixture; make sure the thickness is not too much for a complete baking of the entire cake.
  • After a certain time, I took it off my traditional oven, and my cake is ready; I split it into different parts for photography.

ENCOUNTERS

My difficulties are numerous since it's my first time, but the most outstanding ones were the ones that had to do with placing the cake in a carton that best fit it. I wanted to make the thickness smaller for proper baking.

Since I used a traditional oven of dried fine sand in a pot on a gas cooker, I encountered difficulty in regulating the temperature.

IMPORTANCE OF EACH INGREDIENTS

1000157583.jpg

  • The butter and the egg are used to batter the mixture properly; without this, I am not sure the flour would have mixed properly.

  • The sweetening sugar gave it that sweetness, and coffee gave it the taste; someone can at least speak of tasting something like coffee after eating the cake.

  • There is this flavour that comes with the vanilla, and it gives the cake this cakey aroma I can't explain; if only there were a word like that.

INVITING A STEEMIAN FRIEND TO JOIN ME

There is so much love in sharing, and one person that would come into my mind would be @bossj23. Without him, there would have been no motivation to keep on striving on Steemit; I think the possibility of getting to know friends like Alejos7ven wouldn't have been possible. He has been very supportive, and he played a part in this cake preparation.

Do you wish to know? I was out of gas, and I wanted to use my gas to make a traditional oven with fine sand. I called him to help me with some funds to repay later, and he did. So with this contribution, I would love him to taste this first, followed by other friends like @whitie, @whizzbro4eva and @dwings.
