Spiny Orb Weaver (Gasteracantha)

It's fancy finding this strange creature in the shrub. It is called spiny orb weaver (Gasteracantha), a genus of orb-weaver spiders first named by Carl Jakob Sundevall in 1833. It is almost impossible to see it clearly with naked eyes unless we need a little effort to perceive the detail looks through the macro gear. I was so thrilled by the time I perceived its shape, reminded me of the scary animal in the movie. However, it is not that bad, this orb weaver was not as aggressive as I thought. Spiny Orb-weaver has a spin flat, shaping webs in the shrub, twigs, trees, and in the window corners. To be honest, that was my first time finding this such creature and I did not waste time capturing it with a smartphone plus macro device. I saw it was crawling and hanging over the web making a long cross from one place to another. Although it may look dangerous with its bright colors, it is harmless to humans and would simply be overlooked if not for its unique coloration.
