Malieveld in den Hage by Daniël Marot

Daniël Marot was born in Paris (France), fled the country and became Dutch in 1707. He was an architect, engraver, and designer and had an amazing career. He designed gardens, houses, palaces, graves, and parks mainly for the wealthy. Although many will no longer know his name (which is the same for most artists) his work is still present.

To be honest I am not familiar with the work of this artist and if I have come across his works I do not remember them.

Perhaps I was inattentive then but everything has its time.

I do not know what other viewers see in this picture but I see some ridicule a caricature of what people call "gossip".

You know today you can see grandmothers sitting on benches in front of the entrances who discuss everyone passing by and all the residents of the house because grandmothers know everything about everyone.

I see something similar in this park where the nobility gathered men who sometimes behave like chatty grandmothers.

And in those times, when this picture was painted many gossips or simply unnecessary chatter became the cause of duels, people sometimes died of boredom in the literal sense of the word :)

As for the drawing technique I like this style and soft tones of the picture and the perspective here is beyond criticism my gaze is simply carried away to the horizon of the park and the play of light and shadow gives a special realism to this work.

Thank you.
♥️🍀

Last week it was a flock of sheep that was shown. It was asked to leave a comment and show your piece of art! It surprises me not one of the participants read that, Can anyone explain the reason? Is there no art available or does no one care what is written?

@barski and @tezzmax each received 3 SP for their comment. Barski because the flock gave him joy and tezzmax because it pisses him off that this called art.

The UVF is transferred by the community Art & Artists.

Mona Lisa is the famous and magical paintings in history of art. Her soft smile and calm expression create a magical feeling that touches to heart. I admire how the background shows peaceful nature, while the lady sits with such grace. The way her eyes seem to follow us is amazing. This artwork shows how beauty, mystery and emotion can live in one simple portrait. It reminds me that art can speak without words. Every time I see this painting, I feel like it’s hiding a beautiful secret in her gentle smile.
