Flower Contest | Let us bloom beautifully in the garden of our days

Even When It's Just for One Day

We will find joy and purpose in even the smallest moments, just like the dayflower blooming for a single day.

This Asiatic Dayflower (Commelina communis), a spiderwort family annual, is aptly named: its blooms last but a single day.

It boasted many regional names across East and Southeast Asia. Known in China as yazhicao (duck foot herb), while in Japan, it's called tsuyukusa (dew herb) which shall be the one I'll be using in my poem.

It also goes by names like Duck's Tongue Plant or Spiderwort.

tsuyukusa
the dew herb
adorning us
in its fleeting grace

a weed
by some decree
yet a day flower
a precious jewel in the field

no matter how diminutive
each of them
blossoming in their own rights

even when it’s only
for a day
the dayflower
shoot straight upward

with bold blue bloom
adorning the field
with its lovely hues

let us
be like the flower
allow ourselves to
bloom beautifully
in the garden of our days

I believe we are all a bit like these wonderful dew herbs! Our days might seem short, but like these precious flowers, let's make sure to bloom vibrantly and find joy in every single moment we're given. Keep shining brightly, beautiful dayflowers!

Hi, @emmabritt

There's something I didn't quite understand. Do these photos belong to you? Did you take them? (The link doesn't work for me.)
Anyway, they're very beautiful flowers. Here in Venezuela, they're also known and grow as weeds. They're also used for medicinal purposes.

Hello @joslud
The photo is from the link, I didn't take the picture. That's why I included the link here. Is it ok to do so?
I don't know much about flowers. It was so inspiring when I heard about it.
Nature is so precious and so useful. How do Venezuelan use them for medicinal purposes?
