Hello, @steevc
The correct name for the capital of Ukraine is Kyiv, not Kiev

I guess both are an equivalent to the Cyrillic spelling. This is the one we use in the UK.

@steevc it's wrong and insulting for Ukrainians. In Ukrainian language, the capital of Ukraine is called Kyiv. Kiev is the name of the capital of Ukraine in russian language. Russia attacked Ukraine and seized its territory. It is incorrect to call the capital of Ukraine the language of the constant enemy of this country.

Then I apologise. I didn't mean any disrespect. I've changed it.

Thank you.
We invite you to visit other cities of Ukraine.
You will like Lviv, Odesa, Chernivtsi, Uzhhorod, Kamianets-Podilskyi and other Ukrainian cities.

what a fun visit @steevc in one photo you appear to be hot. Was the weather warm? I really like the photos. great photo of the rabbit you can sit in.

It was pretty warm both times I was there, but I think it gets really cold in winter. They have places you can ski then. I didn't get to do the tour of Chernobyl :)

An interesting post @steevc. I love those little bee hives and wonder if they are still there.

We went to Bulgaria some years ago and experienced staying in an old Soviet apartment building in a fortuitous accident.

i was happy to go there before everything is modernised. at the time people were still ploughing the fields by hand. I imagine things will have changed a lot already.

It was interesting to see how a place like that can change, but some aspects will take a long time due to corruption. My mum went to Romania before their revolution and that was a much more extreme example of a 'communist' state.

From what I read here @steevc there are still a lot of problems in Romania. As you say it will take a long time for corruption etc to change. 😊

I remember you taking this trip. I've never been to Kiev but some images remind me of Bucharest.

There are some great buildings, especially if you like churches, but then you have the crumbling soviet buildings. I was lucky to visit some interesting places in that job. I may feature some more.

I don't think its a place I would visit to be honest. If your sent there with work then that's a different story. The old USSR counties look very run down, and with what I see this is no different.

I'm happy to visit some of the old Iron Curtain cities such as Prague though. So many places to go and so little time we are here.

I might not go there for a holiday, but I know people who have. It may still be a relatively cheap destination.

An interesting part of the world I've never been to. They seem to have a thing for beige in that part of the world so it's nice to see some colour in the pics.

Great pictures my man.

Being a famous city Kiev is quite well known in the world but the city is actually well and truly blessed in several ways. Chernobyl is not very far from the city and when the nuclear disaster happened, Kiev was spared the fallout because of the atmospheric conditions. The wind actually carried the radioactive contaminants away from the city instead of towards it.

Looks to be an interesting city to visit for...
I’ve been at Moscow and Saint Petersburg a couple of times and I enjoyed...
Kiev looks very similar.

"There's cool sculpture park in the city."

I love that Japanese manga looking seat statue, that opens his mouth for you to sit in it lol.

In truth though, I came here to congratulate you on your shit-posting song, which I only just discovered in an expired post, and which I am humming as I post this. I hope this comment is shit enough. ;)

This is by no means a shit comment. Glad you enjoyed the song. I'll be posting another original soon.
