THE ORIGIN AND FALL OF EVIL SPIRITS Part 11 (FOLLOW UP AFTER DELIVERANCE).

Sometimes, the hard won victory over demonic manipulations is lost after few days of the deliverance, due to lack of follow up of the minister who conducted the deliverance and follow through by the victim himself.

Jesus said,

“When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and finding none. Then he saith, I will return into my house from which I came out and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there, and the last state of the man is worse than the first…” (Matt.
12:43-45).

This reveals the fact that demons can return after they were cast out to repossess their victim. Just as sickness returns when you fail to keep to the rules of hygiene or stipulated diet prescribed by your doctor, demons can easily come back.

Here are some of the ways you can help a victim after deliverance to retain his victory over demons:

a. Make sure that the person is totally converted (spend time to explain what is salvation and lead him to experience salvation himself).

The power that destroys demonic influence and keeps the person from repossession comes from God through salvation. Now, conversion comes through the process of teaching and praying with the new convert. He must be taught the Bible on time. Subjects relating to prayers and holy living must be imbibed early enough.

b. Help the person to memorize Scriptures relating to his position in Christ and his victory over demons as a child of God. Here are the scriptures and what they stand for:

 (John. 1:12-13) I am God’s child.

 I am Christ’s friend (John. 15:15).

 I have been justified and I am at peace with God.

 I am a new creature (II Cor. 5:17).

 I am united with Christ (I Cor. 6:17).

 I have been forgiven and redeemed through Christ (Col. 1:13-14).

 God is with me, God is for me and God is in me. He that is in me is greater than he that is in the world (Satan) (1John. 4:4).

 Nobody will be against me and no weapon that is formed against me shall prosper. (Rom. 8:31-34, Isaiah 54:17).

 Jesus has given me power over all the powers of my enemy and I shall trample upon my enemies and they will do me no harm (Luke 10:19).

I shall overcome Satan and demons by the blood of Jesus Christ (Rev. 12:11).

These are some of the relevant scripture passages the person can memorize to ward off demonic influences after deliverance.

c. Teach the person how to pray-prayer and praise are powerful instruments in combating demons. When praying, plead the blood of Jesus and use His name. Then confess what you have become as a result of your salvation.

d. Don’t play with sin; keep off from anything that can attract the devil around you. “After word Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, behold thou are made well, sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee (John. 5:14).

e. Help the person to join a living church for fellowship and tell him the importance of constant fellowship with others. Let him confess Christ openly to others; by this, demons and bad friends will keep off. ((Mark 5:18-20).

f. Teach him to control his thoughts and never allow his thoughts go out of control also teach him how to meditate in the scriptures and positive things (Phil. 4:8).

g. He should forgive who offend him and not to harbor grudges, but maintaining a pure heart as he obeys God. He should avoid grieving the Holy Spirit, by disobeying Him.

Note, the devil has no power; the only power he has is deceit. If he can get you (through your dreams, thoughts, circumstances etc) to believe that he (Satan) can destroy you, his deceit has begun.

Make sure you kill every dream, thought, symptoms or things you hear that are not in line with the promises of God for you. And keep confessing your victory over him, no matter the symptoms (Rom. 10:9-10).

These are some of the ways to keep and maintain your victory after deliverance.

Remember, the devil will stir up situations that will suggest that your deliverance is not complete, or even make you to believe he is still in control; do not listen or focus your mind or thought on all these things, rather do all you can to occupy your mind and thought with the promises of God. Hold fast your confession of faith in God who delivered you from evil spirits and their powers.

The following scriptural passages will help in such situation.

Numbers. 23:19, Psalms. 89:34, Isaiah 54:17, John. 8:36,

Romans. 8:311, 1John. 4:4, Heb. 4:14-16; 10:24.
