ENG-4. 3 major resources: time, energy and attention.

in #mindset6 years ago

When you have energy, you can concentrate and give maximum attention to a specific task for a certain time.

Every person in work or any other activity has such moments when you with certain dexterity, speed and quality perform certain tasks. At these moments, hours, minutes, you can achieve greater concentration, make more quality decisions and demonstrate an unprecedented increase in productivity and efficiency.

In such a process, we are, as a rule, extremely attentive, “work to get involved”. Upon completion of the tasks, we are filled with a sense of self-satisfaction and understanding that if we were always in this state, we could have conquered any peaks.

What is the matter? What are these peak states in which you can do better, better and faster? How do they arise? What are the factors? Let's try to figure it out.

And immediately a question. How does streaming occur? What factors does it consist of? Let's try to figure it out.

Today, numerous experiments and observations boil down to the fact that in our life 3 main factors influence the formation of productivity and efficiency: time, energy and attention. Consider these factors in order.

Time. In terms of terminology, time is a form of physical and psychological processes, as well as a condition for possible changes. And indeed, we often notice and say that over time we understand a lot, we grow every day, over the years we become wiser. And yet - time heals, time changes, time flows continuously, ends. And for all it has a single system - 60 minutes in one hour, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Obviously, physically we can’t influence time to go faster or slower. So, to increase productivity (to do something more in one unit of time) we need to increase efficiency (to do something better and faster in one unit of time).

What is efficiency? In simple terms, it is the ability to achieve the desired or greater result with the least amount of time and effort. If you wrote 2 pages of report per hour, and suddenly you started writing 4 pages without loss of quality, you probably increased your efficiency. Moreover, in this case, it can even be measured! You have increased your efficiency 2 times!

And what allowed you to increase efficiency? What allowed you to double your numbers? Most likely, you were in a good mood, you eliminated all the distractions, were not interrupted by conversations with colleagues and social networks, and were most interested in the desired result - the report.

In other words - you have directed all your attention to the implementation of this task. You have increased your concentration on this matter and therefore you managed to double the usual result in the same period of time. It turns out that attentionis one of the key efficiency resources. But how do we develop this attention?

You will certainly agree that attention is also not a constant value. If you do not get enough sleep, if you are nervous, if you are constantly jerking over trifles and you need to check the Instagram tape every 10 minutes - there can be no question or concentration on the task at hand! At such moments, you are scattered, not collected, sluggish and hardly able to do something important.

You just do not have enough energy is not something that effectively complete, and sometimes at least get down to business. And at times when you do not have enough energy, you switch to less complex and energy-intensive tasks - empty conversations, viewing mail, social networks, reading news and waiting for the end of the working day.![ALL4.png]

What you need to do to raise the level of energy? Most of you probably instantly decided - to drink coffee. Desirable a lot. This is partly true, but what if without stimulants?

In this case, your way out is a complete solution, which takes into account the following factors:

  • Physiological factors (for example, getting enough sleep; eating normally; watching your health)
  • Psychological factors (for example - do not worry; they are not afraid; do not be upset)
  • Distractions (for example, mobile phone, social networks, calls, conversations)

This is not a complete and far from new list for you. But agree that:

If you finally get enough sleep, have a normal breakfast, stop worrying for the coming report at least for a couple of hours and are afraid of failure, sit at the desktop, move the phone to silent mode, close social networks and finally start doing that very report - your chances to work effectively for the next couple of hours will increase dramatically!

Note that there is nothing new, nothing unusual. Only 3 resources: time, energy and attention. When you have energy, you can concentrate and give maximum attention to a specific task for a certain time. Logical, simple and obvious - use!
