How are you guys?

This time I have a story about a tourist spot that is quite far away. We happen to be in East Aceh Regency. There is a tourist attraction there that is very popular with the public. It is said that this natural tourism is very refreshing.

Because we were curious, we headed to Lokop. The location is in Serbajadi District which is 53.6 km from Peureulak District, the starting point for departure to the tourist attraction.

We departed from Peureulak at around 11.04 WIB. From the start, we had been warned that the trip there would be "tiring". There was even a relative who regretted our travel plan, because it was very late. "We should have left at nine in the morning," he said.

Because we had prepared all the supplies, we finally moved, taking the land route with four wheels. Since long ago, the Peureulak-Lokop road has been known to be less than good. However, in the last few years, the government has improved it, so it is smooth.

Even though the road is good, we are not free to run fast. The reason is, the road is uphill and winding. The bends are also sharp, so you have to be extra careful. After traveling for one hour and 30 minutes, I started to worry. The problem is, there are rarely any vehicles passing by on the road. Only one or two.

Not only that, when I arrived at Peunaron, a sub-district that was expanded from Serba Jadi, I thought the trip to the tourist attraction was close. It turned out that it still took another hour. With the uphill conditions and sharp bends, I had to be extra careful.

• Beyond expectations

We just arrived at the location at 14.30 WIB. From the entrance to the tourist attraction, the distance is only about 150 meters from the main road. This tourist attraction is a clear, fast-flowing river with lots of rocks.

Above it there is a suspension bridge, which is a means of connecting with other villages. There were not many visitors to the tourist attraction when we arrived at the location. This is understandable, because it was not a weekend. We arrived on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.

We had a hut under the suspension bridge. If we look at Google Maps, the point is listed under the name TAON NIRI TUYUH TITI GANTUNG LOKOP (BATHING BATH). Not far from there is also Waih Pasir Lukup. However, it is quite far from where we were sitting. That's why I chose Taon Niri Tuyuh Tourism.

Even so, there were also several families who were traveling. When we arrived at the parking lot, there were already two vehicles that had arrived first. Then, we immediately looked for a place to sit in the huts.

Seeing the flow of the river, as well as the facilities here, my enthusiasm immediately dropped. To be honest, the condition is far below my expectations. It has not been managed professionally. Still very, very amateurish.

Conditions like this are often found in several tourist attractions in remote areas. Like this Lokop nature tourism, which is on the border of East Aceh and Gayo Lues. The management is very bad. There is even no nameplate here.

Not to mention the supporting facilities, such as bathroom facilities and parking areas. I see that until now there has been no government intervention in managing this tourist attraction to make it better.

So far, the management is still carried out by individuals who happen to have gardens on the banks of the river. Because the managers do not have much capital, we can see from the atmosphere of the huts there. In addition to being made of wood, the roofs are also made of tarpaulin and their condition is also starting to rot.

If people who live in the city might be reluctant to travel here. In addition to being far, the conditions are also beyond expectations. Narrow roads, minimal facilities. There are only huts.

We sat in the Wilda JM hut. We also chose this hut. To warm up the atmosphere we ordered three Popmie, one cold sweet tea and empty ice. We paid for everything for 45K or the equivalent of 20 steem. While the rental price for the hut is 20K which is equivalent to 19 Steem.

Seeing the condition of the river flow which was beyond expectations, we also gave the children the opportunity to bathe for about 45 minutes. Moreover, they also seemed less enthusiastic about swimming, because the condition of the river was beyond their expectations.

Considering that the return trip was still far and worried about the weather changes on the way, at 15:16 WIB we immediately left the tourist attraction location.
