If You're Asked About What You Will Regret Most if You're Time Is Up, What Would Be Your Answer?

in #esteem6 years ago (edited)

When you’re asked about what you will regret most in your life when your time is up, what would be your answer? Surely, every person has different answer.

Since we are unique from each other we also have different concerns or priorities in life.

Although we could have similar regrets, since it is also possible that we share the same kind of life under a more or less the same situation.

So regrets would be either failure to reach your dreams, failure to get a good life, failure to fulfill your duty and obligations, failure to be what other people wanted you to be, etc.

Human as we are we tend to overthink on whether or not we are heading on the right path, we used to ask ourselves if we are gearing towards becoming someone that we want to be.

And realizing that we’re not, those become the regrets that are going to stick with us.

Have you heard about the Self-discrepancy Theory of the three selves?

Under this theory the tree selves are the following:

Actual Self
The Ideal Self
The Ought Self

When we regret about something we also need to understand these things.

Ample knowledge and understanding about this theory would somehow help us get away from being stuck with so many regrets in life.

The actual self is what a person believes themselves to be at present, based on the actual attributes and his abilities.

While the ideal self-comprised of the attributes and abilities they’d like to possess one day in other words their goals, hopes, and desires in life.

The ought self is more on obligations and responsibilities, things we think we should have been or should have done better. When we talk about ought self, its failure is more.

A study or research suggests that people regret their inactions more than their actions. And for me this is true. My own personal experience proves that,

I do have regrets on things I failed to do which results to what I am now. And indeed there are a lot of them.

We do have regrets because we made mistakes but we should consider the reality that we are not perfect aside from the fact that most mistakes can be fixed so why worry too much about committing mistakes?

After all it is where we get the great lessons in life.

In contrast, we can never fix what we failed to do or what was never done, this is the reason why inaction is what will truly haunt us.

Are you one of the people who wait for inspiration to come before trying to achieve your goals? Or more so people who waits for signs before deciding on things?

I think having so much regrets in life is just normal but we should think also that while we are still alive the things that we want in life won’t go away. We may get older but we still have a lot of things we want. Although it may not be more about ourselves but mostly for our loved ones.

Before I leave I would like to share these things for us to do if we want to overcome those regrets in life.

Write down every regrets you have.
Learn your lesson.
Then apply what you have learned.
Try your best to control how regrets will influence your life.
Recognize productive regret.

its important of our life.

I should have done they things I did better best. This would have been my regret.

To me too much regret in life is not normal, it depicts a level of inexperience and unclarity.
Thanks for coming around with this information.

You're welcome and thanks for your views about the topic.

Am very impressed with this article. It made me think, first and foremost if I have any regrets at this stage of my life. It is the same as asking, "If you can live your life again, what would you change?" Second thing that impressed me is your formatting of the pics. It seems you have already learned how to right or left align your pictures. Mura na kag professional blogger ba. Gadagan pa ang tubig. Tudloi ko og in ana bro. He he. And lastly, what impressed me with this article is how the question being asked challenges so much introspection and evaluation of self. Beautiful.

Resteemed ni nako.
