Osmica memories. What is "Osmica"?
So this is an old narrow railway that goes high up in the mountains of Western Serbia.
In the past it has economic purposes but in the present, it has been turned into a tourist attraction.
You've probably seen some of my photos from Drvengrad and this railway isn't far away, Drvengrad could even be seen on one of the landscape photos below.
So "Osmica" means the digit 8 in English translation.
The reason to call the railway in that manner is that there are view points when looking down the line its rails form the shape of the digit as the line spirals up the mountain...
So the digit eight or... the sign of eternity, you could put it that way too :)
There were so many lovely things around this rail trip. Vintage and specific for the local area and culture.
That place definitely has a big soul. Charismatic...

Fantastic photographs of that old railway route. The anecdote you shared about its name is very interesting. You owe us a photo of the view of those spiral rails forming the number 8.
