The Artists and Illustrators Code was recently revised in the MMXXIV International Convocation of the Art and Creativity Authority (CACA) held in The Hague last November 2024

Section 73B, article 14 clearly states:

“…gimmicky methods, e.g., left-hand work, blind contours, upside down, etc., is not a legitimate way to produce a finished, repeat 'finished', work…12”

It goes on to stipulate:

“All drawings must be made in spiral-bound books clearly labeled on the cover as ‘Drawing Paper.'” They may be made only with a lead pencil, not to exceed 3H, and erasures must be neatly and completely done.

Any person or persons working with art materials must work only within the domains of their licensed class. To wit:

Class 5. Doodlers: May only draw with a ballpoint pen on lined paper intended for class or meeting notes.

Class 4. Incompetents: May not draw anything ever.

Class 3. Sunday Painter: May only work within the confines of authorized painting and drawing classes in a local junior college, community center, retirement home or otherwise sanctioned facility and overseen by a bad-tempered and inattentive disillusioned Class 2 watercolorist.

Class 2. Art School Graduate: Must have a completed certificate and must then have spent a minimum of five years working in an art-unrelated field: video store, coffee shop, falafel stand, ad agency. May not produce any art of any consequence ever again.

Class 1. Genius: Must be represented by a major gallery, have been on the cover of Art Forum at least twice, and have been interviewed by 60 Minutes at least once. Must acknowledge and yet, in some cute and non-threatening way, challenge the current Art establishment. All works must sell for a minimum of five figures.

All works not adhering to these regulations may not be sold, framed, or enjoyed in any way, under penalty of law.”

Are there still artists left?

Or is this an orchestra for those who aren't artists at all and don't create out of a feeling but the need of money? Is this art created on command?

Since I do not exhibit my drawings for sale, then, probably, I will not violate these fundamental rules, the purpose of which is to lobby for some interests on the one hand and the possibility of developing amateurs on the other hand.

Unfortunately, I studied at an art school for only three years from 10 to 13 years and did not receive a diploma, perhaps this is good since I draw only when I want to and my hobby was not oppressed by the burden of having to do this since this is the main business of my life.

But yes, I lack experience and drawing technique, but, on the other hand, I can experience one of my first feelings when I managed to depict something on paper.

An ambiguous feeling, a person cannot live two lives and check the outcome of both options, it is possible that I needed to come to terms with something and continue going to art school, but I will not know :).

In fact, these rules are somewhat discriminatory and the system is similar to chess, where you can't participate in paid tournaments unless you have a chess rank in FIDE.

But, the rules exist and I can only feel like a mushroom on the edge of the forest who meets sunrises and sunsets regardless of any rules. :)

I find it strange that art is only art if it fits to rules set by... and the price to sell it has xxxxx or higher.. It sounds like a big joie to me and artists and art are only for a small selected group no matter if they suck or the public likes it. I have very strong doubt most famous artists fit to those rules. Perhaps today or after their death. If you ask me this is more a marketing/sales trick.

I like your drawing... good for a story/tale book
