Twin Peaks Director Makes a Bold Pro-Trump Statement From His Hollywood Home

in #informationwar6 years ago (edited)

David Lynch is perhaps one of Hollywood's most creative directors. Often misunderstood, but always leaving an impact on his audience, the writer/director of such films as the Eraserhead, Blue Velvet, and Wild at Heart rarely gives interviews. And this is because he believes that film is its own language that English cannot properly describe. But, he allowed Rory Carroll of the The Guardian, (US Edition), into his home to ask him some questions.

Rory Carroll describes, Lynch as so polite, that he comes off like a living version of Ned Flanders from the hit animation show The Simpsons. Lynch goes on to discuss that he would not want to make a film for theaters today because of the constraints of acceptable film length. And, he added, that television allows him to tell the longer stories he wants to tell. And it also allows him the indulgences of shooting long takes such as a man sweeping a room for over a minutein the new Twin Peaks.

Lynch's style and imagination for the bizarre are unmistakable to any other director. And he seems to delight in pushing odd limits and making audiences feel uncomfortable. But during the interview he admitted he voted Libertarian. This he said was because he believed in freedom to do what people want to do. And even though reporter Rory Carroll wrote his meeting with Lynch in a way that seemed to assume everyone in Hollywood hated Trump, he ended up using the term "undecided" when trying to describe what David Lynch profoundly said about our current POTUS.

The direct quote in the article from David Lynch when discussing Donald Trump is this, “He could go down as one of the greatest presidents in history because he has disrupted the thing so much. No one is able to counter this guy in an intelligent way.”

And he went on to say, “Our so-called leaders can’t take the country forward, can’t get anything done. Like children, they are. Trump has shown all this.”

This does not seem undecided at all. But more likely an attempt to spin Lynch's opinion right before the readers eyes.

My life was personally changed after viewing a David Lynch Foundation collaboration with Operation Warrior Wellness. The gist of the collaboration was to teach Veterans, like myself, how to practice transcendental meditation (TM). Coming up on 9 years of practicing this technique, my personally feelings about it are that it works very well. Within 2 weeks, all my friends asked me why I was acting differently. And that was because I wasn't given into the flash anger and debilitating depression I used to experience before I began the exercise. Also, since I began my creativity has been on a rampage.

David Lynch celebrates the premiere of the odd and disturbing new chapters of Twin Peaks with it's star Kyle MacLachlan

One thing is for sure, in a city filled with coke-heads, David Lynch's even keeled approach to life is in stark contrast to the glitz and glam of Hollywood. And perhaps it's the control of his emotions that gave this director a different and refreshing take on Donald Trump, from the rest of the bandwagon haters in LA.

One of my favourite film makers and it seems that great minds think alike because I have been saying Greatest President Ever, for some time ;]

Yeah, my standard response to people when they say he is ill'mannered is that we needed a bull in the China shop. (get it?)

You have a minor grammatical mistake in the following sentence:

And this is because he believes that film is it's own language that English cannot properly describe.
It should be its own instead of it's own.
