When the Moon is in the Seventh House -- and Jupiter Aligns with Mars

People ask.

One of the surprising questions I'm asked from time to time when people find out I'm an Astrologer is ... "What does that line in that song mean?"

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised by it. But I am surprised that people remember it and are curious -- just as I am when people ask what a Saturn return is ... and what is Mercury retrograde really about. Perhaps Astrology is more mainstream than you'd think.

I feel like there's often a lot I have to explain about Astrology, so many misconceptions (some I feel were deliberately fostered. I won't get into the reasons here why I think that.) and other woo-woo jargon and nonsense that drops a barrier between a rational understanding of what Astrology actually describes and its unfortunate reputation as a bunch of silly superstition and hokum.

I'm a believer,
but I can see why others aren't.

I certainly have seen the wisdom Astrology offers enough to say I believe in it ... if that's even the right word. I don't think you have to believe in what's obvious. (And truth is truth whether you believe in it or not.)

But I also understand the scorn and reservations some people have about it, and that's totally fine, too. I'm not offended -- but I will continue to state my truth as I see it. If it's of no use to you, that's ok. I'm not trying to convert anyone.

Believe me, I understand how Astrology has been misused (and misunderstood!!) in the past. It's a powerful tool, too, so that's a little scary. Legitimate astrologers were honestly predicting the end of the world would happen when Pluto transited Scorpio.

This was going on back when I first started studying the subject -- so, yeah, that really got my attention. (Maybe I'll do a post soon on why they were saying that ... and what really happened. And why it all fits -- because it does!)

The end of the world

But we -- as in "humanity" -- made it through Pluto's transit of Scorpio -- more or less safely. That began in 1984 (Ironic, huh??!!) and lasted until 1996.

My personal world detonated at the end of that time in ways that left me totally shattered. Twenty years later I'm still picking up pieces -- but it happened for reasons that were completely predicted in my horoscope ... and awful awful as it was, it made sense to me when it happened.

That may be the only reason I managed to survive it. I just wish -- even today -- it had come in a different form.

During those years, my considerable knowledge of Astrology kept me sane. It kept me alive. Because I could see the bigger picture of what life was asking of me then. I could understand its reasons. I could even help in the transition. Maybe it just gave me something to do, but even that was important.

Every end is a new beginning

Those events and those years also influenced my philosophy of life in ways so profound even I can't describe them. To say I "value" Astrology almost makes a mockery of the statement. I value it the way I value my next breath. I mean that.

Its perspectives are part of me and part of everything I do. They help shape how I see life ... and the world.

But I don't have to push it on anyone. (It's here if you want it.) Or wear it like some kind of costume. (I can also live and behave like a perfectly rational person. Make of that what you will.)

There was a time when people who had known me for decades had no idea I was "into that stuff." That was one thing that changed when my life exploded -- and I have to fit that fact into the whole context of that time.

That song again ...

But let's get back to the song I mentioned in the beginning. (I know. I tend to ramble sometimes.) Some of the people who ask about it don't even know the words well enough to quote them to me, but they recognize them the minute I say ... Do you mean -- when the Moon is in the seventh house, and Jupiter aligns with Mars? Oh, yeah ... that one.

(That line is from a song about The Age of Aquarius sung by a group called The Fifth Dimension back in the 60's. So even knowing it ... dates you a little.)

But here's part of what I mean about Astrology being more mysterious and weird than it should be. The Moon travels through all signs of the Zodiac every month. It changes signs about every 2 1/2 days. It will be in the seventh house of everyone's horoscope about 2 1/2 days sometime every month. So that's not at all unusual.

break1.gif

So interconnected ...

When the Moon travels between 23° of Gemini and 21° of Cancer every month, it travels through my personal seventh house. This shows that I'm more "other-oriented" than usual. I'll take the feelings, needs and perspectives of others more into consideration. I'll be better attuned to what's going on with partners and close friends. I'll notice what's going on outside myself more readily. I'll care more about other people's welfare and happiness.

A person who is born with Moon in 7th House feels a deep, innate need for connections and partners. Other people -- their moods, needs, reactions, behavior, opinions, etc. -- affect him and matter to him -- sometimes even more than his own. He may feel other people (especially the loved ones he values) have enormous influence over him and his well-being.

When they're happy, he's happy. But they can also jerk his strings and push his buttons without even half trying. He is constantly alert to head off any signs of trouble or conflict. He just wants life with his close friends and partners to be peaceful and nice. He absolutely needs this for his own emotional well-being.

So the line "when the Moon is in the 7th house" talks about a time when the welfare and happiness and security of everyone is as important to you as your own. You'll care about the condition of your "fellow man" as much as if they were actually a part of you.

A time of optimism and advancement

The song continues ... "And Jupiter aligns with Mars ...." Jupiter aligned with Mars happens every couple of years, so it's not unusual either. Jupiter aligned with Mars shows a potential time of extraordinary philosophical advancement, intense learning, grand moral progress and social advancement.

It's also a time of exceptional optimism, ambition, confidence, growth and generosity. It is truly a marvelous time of seeing life's greater potentials -- and acting on your vision of what's possible.

It doesn't last,
but it's great while it does

But it doesn't last -- and it's not intended to. It's just a glimpse of what life could be like if you put your mind and heart into your vision -- and everyone / everything else cooperates, too. The last time this happened was in January / February 2018 -- right at the time of the great surge in crypto everyone was so exultant about. (And for a while SBDs were worth $17!)

Remember those weeks? Weren't they grand? Weren't they marvelous? Life has shown us all now that such things are possible!! And if we want to work cooperatively toward that ... it can happen again.

Creating something grand by
sharing different ingredients

This last Mars / Jupiter conjunction happened in Scorpio -- the sign of investments, communal money and joint financial ventures ... merging your assets with "something greater" so that everyone prospers. The next conjunction between these two will be in 2020 ... in March ... when they will both be aligned with Pluto.

Expect revolutionary ideas about changes in the way government and big business should operate to emerge then -- ones with some teeth in them!! (That is, if you can remember that prediction for the next year and a half. How's this? I'll remember it for you. Ok? 'Cause I've got my eye on this one, believe me!)

So ... to wind up this post before it gets even longer. When the Moon is in the seventh house and Jupiter aligns with Mars, it will mark a time when other people's welfare and happiness matters to you ... and to everyone ... and great possibilities for growth, advancement, prosperity and a far better way to live are right at your fingertips. You just have to reach out and grab them.

It's not the end,
but it's a great start.

That's not the "dawning of the Age of Aquarius" as the song goes on to say, because that takes a huge shift in cultural norms and perceptions. But the promise that "then peace will guide the planet, and love will steer the stars" -- ok, that, too, sounds a little grandiose. But it's sure a start.

And even a short glimpse of that mind-set and those potentials, could show us all (or enough of us to really make a difference ) how to build a better future that will lift everyone into greater human possibilities.

That it holds the spark of true miracles is a point I won't argue. But I also love knowing it's coming around again -- and when. And I'll sure be there to watch it unfold ... and help with the progress. Every chance I get!!! I hope to see you there, too.

Thank you for stopping by!

If you've always known there was more to Astrology than Sun Sign material and the three line daily horoscope in the newspaper, climb aboard and follow this blog. You'll find a world of wisdom detailing how you were designed to work with life ... and why you are the way you are -- all in quick-to-read, easy-to-digest-and-remember, written-in-plain-English essays that offer plenty of food for thought.

Little by little, I'm doing a set of articles that talks about all the elements in your horoscope and what they have to say about you. If you "know something" about Astrology -- or know something about your chart placements, that will help you get more from this material.

If you don't ... well, this is one place you can learn. We all have to start somewhere ... because we aren't born knowing this stuff. Meanwhile, if you've never seen your horoscope ... and don't have a clue how to work with it, maybe it's time to find out. There are lots of "chart services" on the internet -- some of whom produce decent, readable charts "for free" and some are so awful and confusing that even I can't read them easily -- and I've worked with charts for decades.

One extremely user-friendly chart site is here: AstroLabe. I recommend them if you want a simple, easy-to-read chart. I think they even give a reasonable little interpretive reading of your horoscope as part of the package. You'll need to know your birth information -- day, month, year, time and geographical place. Without all that your chart will have limited accuracy.

Or, if you want to get serious and really talk about this, upvote this post and start a conversation in the comments section sometime in the next six days from the time of publication. We'll go from there depending on what you want to know.

Questions about any of this? -- Upvote this post and talk to me in comments. It's a terrific way to build value for yourself and the community ... and it will give me ideas of what to write about in future posts. Believe me there is lots to say about the way The Sun, The Moon -- and all the other elements in a horoscope, all the other components of Astrology -- work together to interpret you and your story -- and what it all means to the person you've become.

This is who I am.

About the art in our visual essays ...

Although sometimes the background pictures in our visual essays support the topic and text, they don't always. Sometimes the connection is clear. Sometimes it's symbolic and subtle. Sometimes, there's no connection at all.

The scenes depict landscapes and natural features, buildings and wildlife. They were chosen because they show something lovely or interesting ... or simply because the photo appealed to me.

Our spectacular and remarkable planet is changing at astonishing speed. Rarely are these changes for the better. Few people seem to know ... or care ... or have the will and power to do anything about this. It may not be long before the world humans have known and lived in for centuries is forever lost. We certainly won't be able to make repairs as fast as we destroyed it.

So a few years ago I began collecting pictures of the way things were ... and still are for now, a record of the beauty we have while it is still ours to love and honor.

The photos here are part of that collection, with sincere thanks to the artists who saw these moments ... and with their cameras ... preserved them. All of us at Enchanted Spirit are profoundly grateful to them for their generosity and skill ... and for the added grace, depth and dimension their art brings to ours.

How's this? I'll remember it for you. Ok? 'Cause I've got my eye on this one, believe me!

Your writing is so great, and occasionally you crack me up. Love this perspective, and a peek into your past and how fully astrology is integrated into your life. Thanks for another excellent and informative post!

Congratulations! Your post was selected by the @dropahead Curation Team (dCT)

I like how you present and defend what you believe in. I respect that you are ok with people having other perspectives and maybe different opinions about what you think is the truth. Human society will be much better if we all respected those basic values. Your post picked up my curiosity, had you considered starting some kind of Astrology teaching series on Steemit?

Best regards.

had you considered starting some kind of Astrology teaching series on Steemit?

I have. Often. (And I may put something like that together soon on my private website.) But I'm not convinced this subject isn't too far off the mainstream to generate much interest here. However, thank you for asking. I appreciate your comment about that.

Cool to know what the song's words were really saying....

But this IS the Dawning of the Age of Aquarius! And the features you describe from the line of the song will have more poignant impact as we enter the new age. The Age of Aquarius begins on December 21st. It's been dawning for awhile now. Certainly both the astrological implications and the concrete evidence of 2020 show us that enormous change is taking place. Personally, I am calling this the Plutonian year as Pluto features heavily and seems to be leading the charge in painful but necessary transformation. Jupiter aligning with Mars has certainly played a roll, but it will be the rare great conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn that heralds the Age of Aquarius. The evidence is all around us, people are challenging authority everywhere I look.

And the song is originally from the musical "Hair." But 5th Dimension helped make it a hit.

Great writing! Thanks! :)
