What To Do To Avoid Losing Your Salvation

in #steemchurch6 years ago

The beginning of every matter is not as important as the end of the matter Bible says. The end of a thing is better than its beginning....Ecclesiastes 7:8. Starting successfully also does not mean you will end successfully. I have seen athletes who start race by been in the first position but ended up being last the end of the race. It is not how you start your Christian journey that matters but how you finish it.

There are many people who use to be effective Christians but backslide and never stay committed to the Lord anymore. Some use to be prayerful and fast from time to time but have given up prayer when they received answers or breakthroughs they have been expecting. Some Christians use to be very committed to Christian values and practices but gave up because they allowed the enemy to penetrate into their life and steal all the good thing about their life. Let us continue to be steadfast and immovable, always sticking to prayer and. Let me share with you few things we must do to keep you line with God to avoid losing your own salvation:

Lay aside every weight and sin

Anything that you still hold unto after you have seen Christ is what will drag you back. You cannot run the race to the finish line if you still carry a load. Sin has the power to destroy your salvation if you continue living in it. The bible says if any man be in God he is a new creation all things have become new. You cannot live in your old sins and expect the grace of God to continue to abound. Judas Iscariot walk with Jesus, followed him everywhere, listened to his teachings and sermons all the time but still didn't let go of theft. That was an open gate or opportunity for the enemy to penetrate into life to cause destruction and to steal his salvation.

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls. Hebrews 12:1-3

Never assumed you have finish already

The problem of many believers is to start thinking they have already been perfected. It is easy for the devil to incite you to think of yourself as the best, powerful, the know it all and by that crafty move cause them to lost their way. The devil can easily make you think you the best preacher , the best singer, the greatest teacher, evangelist or prophet , or a great man of God when people begin to shower praises on you and give you titles and names. We should not let the enemy take us by surprise by becoming ignorant of ways. We are still in the race, let us strive to the finish line and get the ultimate prize that is in heaven and not on earth

Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Phil 3:12-14

Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling

After we are save by God He expect us to carry the responsibility of finishing it to the end. God wants us to work on our salvation, to live a holy life, work on our faith, have a good prayer life and fast to keep us healthy and strong spiritually and physically. You can easily miss heaven if you pride yourself with grace fail to live the kind of life God expect you to live.
Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. Do all things without complaining and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain. Philippians 2:12-16

With prayer commit yourself to The one who can sustain you to the end

God is the alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, He is the only one who knows the end from the beginning. He is the one who can give us as an expected end Jeremiah 29:11. We can pray, live a holy life, fast, read our bibles but in all we need more of God grace to help us in times of trouble.

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy, for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. Phil 1:3-6

I'm hoping to see you in heaven someday, God bless you
