First of all, we would like to emphasise how much we welcome the decision of the Steemit Team to discontinue the “Steem Reps” and "booming" projects after several years of stagnation and to openly experiment with new ideas.
All in all, we see fresh opportunities to distribute the SP generously made available by the Steemit Team more broadly – and potentially more fairly – as long as these new approaches are implemented with care and responsibility by dedicated users. We sincerely hope that the new path the Steemit Team is taking becomes a success story and have decided to actively support it:
@chriddi, @moecki and @the-gorilla are offering their services as community curators – as part of what we proudly call Team Europe.

Why “Team Europe”?

Short question, simple answer: British @the-gorilla and the two German Steemians @moecki and @chriddi believe that Europe is significantly underrepresented – both in “visible positions” and in the support of posts through “official accounts”. But they do exist, the great European bloggers!
We call ourselves “Team Europe” because we are Europeans and want to actively seek out ambitious writers from our continent. That doesn't mean we won’t vote for non-European content, but we’d like to borrow a famous Trump quote: “Europe first!”

Who are we?

All three of us are long-time Steemians with many years of experience and diverse skills. We successfully run communities (modest in size, but rich in spirit), have previously served in various community curator teams, and two of us were once Steem Reps.

We are extremely active users, though we do not stand out through endless posting: daily reading quality content and engaging in comment sections are more important to us – sweetened by votes from our combined SP of over half a million.

We are also a group of users whose voting is predominantly manual, selectively choosing the content that we support and avoiding the “5 minute auto-vote”. Whilst this method of curation might not maximise our curation rewards, we all feel that Steemit depends upon curators who take this approach, which is perfectly suited to how we believe that steemcurator and booming accounts should be handled.

Moecki and Gorilla are talented developers, deeply involved behind the scenes of everyday blogging and within the depths of the blockchain. Moecki’s indisputably excellent work recently earned him a place in the Top 20 witnesses, and Gorilla is successfully modernising the Steemit interface. Chriddi is a perfectly “normal” user – someone who has understood Steem and its original principles for years and tirelessly promotes them through direct communication or by leading by example. That’s just how teachers are…

German and English are our native languages. All three of us share a strong feel for language, allowing us to immediately assess the authenticity of a text, even if it’s only decipherable via translation software.

Plans

Please don’t flinch when we mention that we plan to work semi-automatically. Of course, we read with our own eyes and minds and as already mentioned, curate manually. However, the programming skills within our team will allow the sc-votes to follow our private votes (not every one, of course) via a well-thought-out system. This approach enables us to more efficiently use the provided SP (by voting when the account’s voting power is greater than a specified level) and our time – as none of us are full-time Steemians.

We will also work with automated lists. This will prevent users from receiving excessive vote percentage over a 7 day period and ensure that a user is not repeatedly nominated for a “large sc-reward” in the same monthly vote period. Posts already carrying an sc-vote or written by members of another sc-team will not be voted by us. Users of any kind of (hidden) delegation services won’t be rewarded either.

So: we are looking for good content and meaningful comments. In addition we would like to use the higher curation ability for supporting the participants of our own interactive games like Steemit-Quiz (which needs a jolt of life), Wördel or Quördel - each absolutely hand-made.

Abuse

When it comes to detecting plagiarism and AI-generated content, we never rely on software. We rely on our intuition, our finely tuned sense of/for language, and a deep understanding of human nature shaped by many years of life experience.

Let’s be honest: if there’s a synonym for the fight against abuse and system exploitation, it’s “The Gorilla”. His detective-like instincts have been well known since the @endingplagiarism era. Perhaps less known is the fact that Moecki and Chriddi have always supported Gorilla in this work. All three are not afraid to use a tool that is considered useful and effective – even in the Steemit Whitepaper: the downvote.
If – as has previously been the case – it is preferred that we do not issue red marks using the sc-account, we will of course refrain (even if our click-fingers are itching).

A well-written piece should never end on a negative note such as abuse, so allow us one final, positive sentence to close this application:
