Cherished wish.

It was the sixth ship day after departure from the Big Zen spaceport of the planet Kren of the Ash-L-1011 system but apart from empty asteroids from which all minerals had already been removed nothing had come across on the path of Morgan Steve's prospecting vessel.

Boredom had set in and, looking at the fuel consumption scale, Steve thought with longing that there were many bad things in the world for example unpaid loans for ship repairs growing fuel prices and moneylenders greedy for money.

He didn't need anything, just to find a piece of stone in space on which diamond crystals would grow or a gold vein would turn yellow.

So the hours passed.

For a moment Steve fell asleep and woke up immediately in a sweat afraid of missing something.

He decided to check the video recorder and flipping through the pictures of the space that could flash while he was sleeping his finger froze on the rewind button...

Steve froze was dumbfounded closed and opened his eyes several times, scratched the back of his head pinched his cheek he could not believe his eyes!

A legend!

Yes, the legend that his friends and old-timers of the prospecting business had told him many times was in front of him in a photograph!

The ship "Cherished Desires" that was the name of the vessel riddled with many holes from meteors that hit it but continued to remain in working order for centuries in autonomous mode.

As the legend goes one day having found an unknown crystal that was colder than the coldest the owner of the ship decided to put it in a soda vatomat on board his ship to cool the soda without having to load the fuel elements of the ship's reactor.

You remember those machines you throw a token into the slot and soda flows out mixing with sweet syrup.

After looking for tokens and not finding them he said: I wish I could drink water now, and more syrup!

And then the machine gurgled and sweet and cool syrup poured into the glass!

One of his crew members passing by the soda vatomat told his friend that he wanted to give his wife a diamond ring and then the vatomat crackled and spat out a diamond ring into the glass.

After that all the team members decided to try their luck and make wishes they all came true but only once and when making a wish again instead of money and treasures the machine only poured soda into the glass and without syrup.

Steve ran to the airlock and frantically began to put on a spacesuit for the transition to the cradle of Cherished desires.

Having moored to the gangway Steve went aboard the ship that was supposed to solve all his problems.

Steve knew that he could only have a wish for a day and it needed to be well thought out a redeemed and gold-backed unlimited star credit card opening the way to a comfortable life without debt, this is what he dreamed of.

In front of Steve was a sluice gate which opened easily, opening the way to a dark corridor.

Steve turned on the headlight and began to move along the deserted corridor.

In theory the soda machine should be near the wardroom, and that's where he headed.

There's no dust or cobwebs in space which is a nice bonus to searching through deserted ships.

As Steve had expected, the machine was near the entrance to the wardroom, but it was de-energized.

Steve approached the machine examined it from all sides knocked on it but nothing happened.

Apparently he needed to turn on the switch in the electrical panel which was on the wall next to the machine but the steel door of the panel was closed and held in place by a screwed-in nut.

So, I need a 19 mm wrench here, Steve thought and putting the bag with the metal tools he had brought with him on the floor he began to rummage through it in search of a wrench.

Then the intercom on his wrist rang... his wife!

Steve pressed the button and answered the call.

Honey you can already make your shopping list today we are starting a new life in a few seconds we will be rich and happy all I need now to open the door to treasures is a 19 mm wrench! - said Steve and heard his wife's joyful cry.

At that moment suddenly the lights on the soda machine lit up its body shook and a brand new shiny chrome 19 mm wrench came out of the depths of the machine where you put a glass of water!
