Good evening steemians. I hope everyone is enjoying steemit life. Today I have come to you to share with you the activities I performed today.

Today, I woke up very early. The light hass been off since yesterday. I couldn't sleep very well. The room was very hot. I offered my prayers and prepared for work. Due to the light out, I couldn't iron my attire but I had no option. I quickly left the house to the bus station. While I was at the bus station, waiting for the bus, a lot of people at the bus were discussing about the road that lead to my work place. I pay attention to listen to every detail of it. I realised that, the road that lead to my workplace has been blocked by a truck loaded with wood. I was confused and worried about the situation because I have exams to write and I have to get to the workplace as soon as practicable. Within 15 minutes time , the bus came and my colleagues and I board it. Whiles we were Inside the bus , we discussed about the situation at hand and we were much concerned about how we would get to the other end of the road.

10 minutes after the bus set off, we saw a lot of cars packed on the roadside. The driver gave instructions to all of us in the bus to get down and walk to the other end of the road. No car was coming from either side of the road ,the road was totally blocked. We had no options than to follow his instructions.

The moment we alight from the bus

Vehicles packed on one side of the road

We walked on the left side of the road for almost 30 minutes. In fact I was tired. My safety boot was heavy , the road too was slippery which made everything very difficult for us. Work must go on, productions can't cease , we can't say because of this incidence , there won't be any work. We walked to the nearest junction called " Tutuka junction" and waited for different bus from the other side of the road to convey us to the work place. We were fortunate enough that , we didn't spent much time at the junction.

At Tutuka junction

The number of people at the junction outnumbered the bus so I was fortunate enough to get a seat to sit. Though those who couldn't join us, different bus came there to pick them. I got to the work place at 8:30 am. This is unusual of me.

In a bus

I quickly went to the workshop to do safety meeting. Though other colleagues from different towns who didn't encounter any problem with their road arrived at work place early, they were done with the safety meeting. One of them took us through what were discussed during the meeting.

I hope it is good I share my safety meeting to you all so that others can also follow whiles working , these are the topics we discussed

Heat exhaustion

  • Occurs when your body is depleted out of fluids

  • Symptoms are nausea, dizziness, and feeling weak

  • Drink plenty fluids when working in hot weather

  • Wear light coloured clothing on hot sunny days to aid in keeping cold

House keeping

  • Push trash in proper receptacles with lids

  • Clean up grease and spills

  • Keep your equipment caps free from trash ,bottles and debris that can create hazard

Overhead power lines

  • Keep all equipment at least 3 meters from power lines

  • Inspect the route you must travel to ensure there is adequate clearance

After the meeting, I quickly went to the training room. My exams started at 9:00 am and by 10:00 am I was done.

After the exams , we were introduced to another module called " Principles of direct current "

The training started with basic Introduction like the definition of work, power, energy and delve in more into Ohm's law. Ohm's law was then use to derived 3 formulas under electrical power calculation. I love solving calculation questions, I was very active in the discussion. We then learn about parallel and series circuits. In fact, it was fascinating. I learnt about advantages and disadvantages of connecting circuit in either parallel or in series. In series connection, one switch is used to control two or more lamps whiles parallel connection gives the operater the option to switch any lamp he or she want to put on. Though each has pros and cons and it depends on the user the kind of system he or she want to put in place

Advantages of series connection

  • The current does not affect the performance of the circuit, battery tend to perform better to achieve high efficiency especially appliances which are portable

  • There is no complexity in series circuit. It so easy to deduce it to understand it without technician.

  • Series circuit does not easily catch fire.

Disadvantage

  • For a system which require large power, series circuit is less efficient, the effective supply voltage is shared with each element.

Parallel circuit advantage

  • Same voltage across all the connected components, hence voltage remain constant

  • Current flows in different path so connect and disconnect does not affect the entire circuit

  • Current will always flow through in case there is a fault

Disadvantages

  • It is costly because more cables are needed

  • Voltage is always constant hence it cannot be increased.

  • Tracing of fault becomes difficult

At 12:15 pm, I went to the canteen to take my lunch. This is my first time eating at the canteen after the Ramadan.

Lunch time

After the lunch, there wasn't any major task to perform. I closed from work at 4:00 pm. The road was cleared , so not much time was wasted while coming home. I got home at 4:45 pm.I was tired so I rested for some few hours. I woke up later to watch the match between Real Madrid and Manchester city. This brings to the end of my day.

Paying attention to every details on your way to wherever you are is key. I am sorry about the light out through out the night and not been able to iron your shirt. I guess is normal for us guys 😅😅😅

Walking through the hill is really a great work talk less with that heavy safety boots 😜😜😜. For you the gentleman it should be ok but my worry is about the ladies. I hope they were able to also go with you guys?

I guess you really enjoyed your visit. Thank you for your endless visit. I really appreciate your effort

Of course I did and it would have been bad for me if I had miss it

Electricals really seem exciting but can be dangerous to amateurs who pretend to know what they are doing. I see it’s very important to understand the difference between series and parallel connections and know when they are needed.

Great write up friend. Steen on.
