Situated just a few miles from the western side of Las Vegas, the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation area incorporates almost 198,000 acres of an area within the Mojave Desert. The canyon is absolutely a beauty and captures the interests of geologists worldwide.

The present weather and the weather forecasts of the Canyon are provided to the tourists through Wunderground.com. In spring the weather is cool and windy as the relics of winter are present in the leaves that hang in ice box canyon. The wild sunflowers begin to blossom in the hills and begin to take place towards high elevation once the season progresses. In summers, the visit to the canyon is tough. Therefore those tourists who are strong enough to withstand the blazing scorching heat of the typical deserts should take a challenge in visiting the Red Rock Canyon. They need to hydrate themselves regularly through sufficient water intake and equip themselves with adequate sun protection mechanisms so that they may not face the hazard of sun or heat stroke. Even for such robust tourists, it is highly recommended that they make their visit to the Canyon at the start of summer when the temperature considerable are bearable to endure. As the autumn approaches, the monsoon weather take hiking to the next level as you see yourself drenched in water and surrounded by the fallen yellow leaves. If you decide to undertake late afternoon hikes in the winter season, the majestic beauty of sunsets in winter will never cease to leave you amazed and awestruck. Moreover, if you see the Red Rock Mountains of the canyon draped with a blanket of white snow, don't see yourself caught in bewilderment because deserts also see extreme winter temperatures.

The canyon is opened daily from 8 am to 4:30 Pm and the scenic drive to the red rock mountains is opened all year round, but their timings are subject to different seasons.

The tourist will be astonished to see non-venomous Gopher snakes that are almost 6 feet long rattling on the rocks and copying the defense mechanism of the rattlesnakes. They usually feed on eggs, lizard, small mammals, birds and pocket gophers from which it takes its name. They camouflage perfectly with the desert landscape with their black and yellow skin pattern.

The canyon also offers a long-awaited meeting with the Red Canyon Burro, Jackson with the tourists who are incredibly viral on social media and Facebook pages. Jackson plays a vital role in helping Southern Nevada Conservancy in providing education regarding the importance of preservation of wildlife throughout reach programs to the general public. Jackson became the part of the Red Rock Canyon after he was adopted from the Red Rock Canyon Herd management nearby Las Vegas in 2012. The burro will provide the Red Rock Canyon tourists with a memorable and hospitable experience as he will escort friendly walks with them, teach the young children about the need to conserve wildlife and his athletic figure will act as a model for the tourist so that they like him, maintain a hale and hearty lifestyle like him.
