The MAP Trail Curation Contest - Delegated SP and Free Upvotes - Week 2
As part of MAP's mission to support curators, I will be delegating 200 SP for 20 days to one individual per week. Read below for more details.
The MAP Curator Trail is currently supporting @mirrors, @bestofph and @kendallron, each with 200 SP delegated for 20 days. There are two tranches left and one shall be delegated once this post expires.
The @accelerator account is also currently following and upvoting 29 accounts that curate content on Steemit. To be added to this list, please leave a comment below.
Eligibility
The term "curator" shall mean an individual who selects and aggregates posts within Steemit on the basis of quality.
A curator can be either independent or working within a curation community.
The published "curated post" can be on a specific subject area or of general interest. This includes contests that are content-based and result in a final post of the best entries. If your curation activity uses other methods, such as resteeming, then please mention this in your comment.
The curation activity must take place at least weekly.
The curator should have an active SP of less than 2,000 SP - this includes existing delegations.
If you are not eligible for the delegated SP, you may still be followed and upvoted by the MAP Curator Trail, so feel free to leave a comment and I shall come and check your activities.
If you're an independent curator...
Please leave a comment; just include a link to your most recent curated compilation of posts, plus a short description of your topics of interest and how long you have been curating on Steemit. If you have both a personal and a curation account, please include both.
If you curate for a community...
Please state which community account you curate for and links to recent posts that you have discovered. If your username does not always appear within the curation posts, I can still verify your role with the curation community administrators.
Prizes
The main prize is a delegation of 200 SP for 20 days.
However, if you are a quality curator and not yet being followed by the MAP Trail, then this is also an opportunity to make yourself known and possibly be followed and upvoted on a regular basis by my @accelerator account. This is a fairly new focus for the MAP Trail and the process of adding curators is on-going.
How the Winner shall be chosen
I shall select a number of curators who I feel will make the most effective use of their delegated SP. I am aware that this has an element of subjectivity, but then so does curating. The last step to select a winner shall be done randomly. To make this last process transparent, I shall use a comment timestamp as the random number generator.
The winner shall be announced on day 7 of this post and the delegation made soon after.
Remember that there will be another round next week, so this is not a one-off shot!
Curators from Previous Contest
I shall be adding the following curators from the last contest. There is no need for a full introductory comment, but I would appreciate a quick comment expressing continued interest. These are: @hetty-rowan, @lynncoyle1, @anonyvoter and @classical-radio.
Last Thoughts
The process of supporting curators has to involve some level of communication; in order for me to allocate resources to the most effective people will sometimes require some discussion as to the whole process of curating and the motivations behind doing it. This is especially true of curators who may be working semi-anonymously within a curation trail.
On a personal note, I have been curating for over a year and have gained experience of different communities and their methodologies. I am therefore aware of the work that goes on behind the scenes in order to maintain standards. If anybody wishes some advice related to curating, then just ask!
I look forward to welcoming many new curators to the MAP Trail!
All my community activities are made possible through the income generated by the MAP Rewarder fund. Delegators to the fund receive high weekly income and help support Steemit curators, and through them help the wider community. You can read recent MAP Rewarder posts at @accelerator and you can delegate directly here:
10 SP, 20 SP, 50 SP, 100 SP, 500 SP, 1000 SP, Other.
Thank you!
Please Comment, Resteem and Upvote. Thanks!

WINNER!
Thanks to everyone for participating and voting so quickly. We have a clear winner in this round.
Congratulations to @hetty-rowan!
The 200 SP delegation will be made in a moment.
There will be a fresh round starting soon, probably tomorrow, and shall add all the other curators. I hope to discover some new ones too. And don't forget, everyone is being supported with upvotes, so nobody has really lost. Wish I could delegate more, but that is what I currently have, hence the focus on those curators for whom the delegation does make a significant difference.
Thank you so much! I'm so happy!
We have come to the end of this round and time for voting!
As suggested in some other comments, instead of doing a random draw, we shall select the winner by voting.
ONLY the 7 users below may vote. You cannot vote for yourself but you may vote for more than one person. Please vote as a reply to this comment with the name(s) you support.
I will give this 48 hours, or less if everyone votes.
This week's shortlist is:
@veryspider
@lynncoyle1
@scrawly
@snook
@hetty-rowan
@classical-radio
@anonyvoter
Good luck, and let's see if this voting system works! :-)

Thanks a lot for voting so quickly; I could see you're not always writing, but somewhere you said you're often online scouting :-)
And... you've also made my job easier by voting for a clear winner!
pleasure mine :-)
And I'm almost "Always" online... but not Always with this account ;-)
Thanks a lot for being so quick!
Just 3 people left to vote.
@accelerator you were flagged by a worthless gang of trolls, so, I gave you an upvote to counteract it! Enjoy!!
Many thanks!
Notice that people's negative emotional reactions to being randomly flagged are greater than the financial value of the flags, hence, this is a psychological disruption project. Who gains? Whoever is competing with Steemit ;-)
I'm glad to see you encouraging individuals! More individuals should curate :-)
Hello! Yes, even in the private sense of following those you actually wish to read so that one's post feed has interesting stuff. I like to promote feeds - sadly there is no button to do so, hence has to be bookmarked, like: https://steemit.com/@accelerator/feed
That's a good idea!

Hi hi ! This is an excellent drive and I'm all for it \o/
I guess I should try and put my name forward? :D hello !!
You probably have seen me a fair bit at @c-squared discord :> I primarily focus on art curations on steemit.... if you check my trail at the #art-curation channel, you'll see i LOVE curating quality contents for the blockchain :>
I think quality contents' discovery and promotion are integral parts of establishing Steemit's brand as a blogging platform in the long run and I'm passionate about doing my bits for it :D
Any questions, let me know~
Hi @veryspider, you're exactly the kind of "hidden curator" I'd like to support; "hidden" in the sense that your curation work is not really obvious from your blog and comments.
The more people sign up here from @c-squared, the better picture I have of who is doing what!
I have added you to the MAP Curator Trail on SteemAuto and will add you to the draw for the delegated SP once this post expires.
Aaah thank you so much !!! I try to resteem the ones that I think I have covered too much through c-squared so in a way I make sure that they are still 'boosted' haha, but yeah, you are right, the bulk of my curation work is the 'hidden' type.... :> I dont mind ! The most important thing to me is that I'm doing what I want to be doing and that is, curating and helping the blockchain improves its quality content generators :>
Thank you so much for driving initiatives like this, though ! Every little bit helps and I think you are doing very valuable stuff for Steemit :> The minnows and new users retention are particularly an important life blood for the platform, I think. The more we can help the growth of adoption of new users, the better the entire platform is going to be...
Anyway, enough ramblings from me hahaha~ Thanks again and let me know if I can do more on my end :>
The issue of retention is important and somewhat related to curation and community support.
You go to a funfair and see the big prizes; you win a little prize and look down at it, disappointed. Few figure out that winning the big prizes probably costs more than the prize is worth; they just look at their little prize as the absence of the big one. People are deeply weird! :-)
BTW you have a fan in @scrawly, and I'll ask the same question: at the end, would it be fun for those nominated to vote for each other, or is it "cleaner" to just do a random roll as before?
I personally think there are pros and cons of both approaches. But if I must choose I think it is always nice to give people a chance to appreciate each other. It will also give other people observing the conversation opportunities to read and get to know who's who, here on Steemit :>
I am definitely still interested in participating! Thank you so much for the opportunity :)
I love these kind of benevolent and smart projects. Thank you for being a positive force in Steemit.
I would like to raise my hands up too since I am an art curator for c-squared and I am in training to be a curie curator, but if you only give delegation to one person, please give it to Ms Spider. She's definitely a GREAT curator :D.
Have an awesome day ^_^.
Many thanks; you've been added to the MAP Curator Trail :-)
You raise an interesting point - at the end, should I select randomly, as I did last time, or have the nominees only vote for their favourite?
Please do not consider me as a participant to this contest if it means that I can randomly win instead of Spider XD. She is probably one of the greatest art curators in Steemit based on the quality and quantity of art posts that she finds everyday. And she's very generous in her comments and resteems as well, I believe she has won the comment contest on c-squared consecutively now ^^.
This is a great project. I would be honored to receive a delegation from you. Thank you for finding me.
That's great, will add you to the final list on the last day of this post.
